Hygienic Wall Protection for Football Facilities: Bognor Regis Town Football Club Case Study, UK

Project Overview

Football clubs place heavy demands on their internal facilities, particularly in wet and high-traffic environments such as shower rooms, changing areas, and toilets. Bognor Regis Town Football Club recently upgraded its facilities to ensure these spaces remained hygienic, durable, and easy to maintain, even under constant daily use.

Working alongside main contractors AIM Heritage & Development, Jemiclad was appointed to supply and install a complete hygienic wall protection system across key areas of the club.

The Challenge

As a busy football club,  Bognor Regis Town Football Club required wall finishes capable of:

  • Withstanding constant moisture exposure
  • Resisting impact and surface damage
  • Handling frequent cleaning and disinfection
  • Maintaining a clean, professional appearance

Traditional painted or tiled surfaces can deteriorate quickly in these conditions. A hygienic wall cladding system was specified to provide a more durable, long-term solution.

Areas of Installation

Jemiclad hygienic wall cladding was installed throughout:

  • Player and staff toilets
  • Shower and washroom facilities
  • Changing rooms
  • Internal corridors and circulation areas

These areas experience some of the highest levels of wear, moisture, and footfall within the facility.

Products & Design Choice

The project used a combination of Cloud-S42 and Dark Grey Stone hygienic wall cladding sheets.

  • Cloud-S42 was selected to brighten internal spaces and reinforce a clean, hygienic appearance
  • Dark Grey Stone was specified for high-use areas, offering a practical and modern finish that helps conceal scuffs and wear

This colour combination delivers both visual impact and functional performance.

Installation & Hygiene Performance

To maximise hygiene, safety, and durability, the cladding was installed using a combination of advanced detailing methods, including:

  • Thermoformed internal and external corners, removing exposed joints and sharp edges
  • Hot-welded joints to create a continuous, watertight surface
  • Cold-weld joints used where appropriate to maintain a seamless finish and consistent hygiene performance

This fully sealed system prevents moisture ingress, reduces dirt traps, and supports effective hygiene control — essential in football and sports environments.

The Result

The completed installation has transformed the club’s internal facilities, delivering:

  • Durable wall protection designed for continuous daily use
  • Seamless, easy-to-clean surfaces
  • Improved hygiene standards across wet and changing areas
  • A clean, modern, and professional finish throughout the building

The hygienic wall cladding system also reduces long-term maintenance requirements, offering excellent value over the lifecycle of the facility.

Why Hygienic Wall Cladding for Football Clubs?

Hygienic wall protection systems are increasingly specified for football clubs and sports facilities due to their:

  • Non-porous, wipe-clean surfaces
  • Resistance to moisture, impact, and cleaning chemicals
  • Seamless jointing options that improve hygiene control
  • Long service life in demanding environments

This project at Bognor Regis Town Football Club demonstrates how hygienic wall cladding delivers both practical and aesthetic benefits in modern sports facilities.
