Project Spotlight: Fairby Grange Residential Home, Kent (UK)

Hygienic Wall Protection Supplied by Jemiclad

Supporting a Sensitive Kitchen Refurbishment in a Live Care Environment

Fairby Grange Residential Home, located in the village of Longfield, Kent, is a family-owned care home with a proud history dating back to 1978. Founded by Greg and Gaynor Reeve and still run by the family today, the home continues to deliver compassionate, high-quality care under the management of Registered Manager Melanie Martin.

As part of an internal kitchen modernisation programme, Fairby Grange required materials that would meet the highest standards of hygiene, durability, and compliance—while allowing the works to be completed with minimal disruption to residents and staff.

Jemiclad was proud to supply its UPVC hygienic wall cladding system to Kent Commercial Kitchens, supporting the delivery of a safe, efficient, and regulation-compliant kitchen refurbishment.

The Brief

Although the existing kitchen was clean and well maintained, it required updating to:

  • Improve hygiene and compliance with current care sector standards
  • Increase energy efficiency
  • Provide a safer, more practical working environment for catering staff

Given the live care setting, the refurbishment needed to be completed swiftly, quietly, and with zero interruption to daily meal services.

The Jemiclad Solution

Working alongside Kent Commercial Kitchens, Jemiclad supplied high-performance hygienic wall cladding, specifically selected for use in care and healthcare environments.

Key benefits of the Jemiclad system included:

  • Smooth, non-porous UPVC surfaces for easy cleaning and infection control
  • High resistance to stains, moisture, and impact
  • Full compliance with hygiene and safety regulations
  • Long-term durability with a clean, modern finish

The cladding was installed as part of a full kitchen upgrade, complementing new equipment and flooring to create a refreshed, fully compliant space.

Installation in a Live Care Environment

Kent Commercial Kitchens managed the two-week refurbishment programme with exceptional care and coordination. The installation of Jemiclad wall cladding was planned around mealtimes and daily routines, ensuring:

  • No service downtime
  • No disruption to residents
  • Clear communication with on-site staff throughout

The speed and cleanliness of the Jemiclad installation played a key role in enabling a fast-track programme without compromising safety or quality.
